Salta la coda Musei Vaticani, cappella Sistina e stanze di Raffaello

Herb L., Australia
Apart from the escalators at the beginning of the tour there are numerous sets of steps up and throughout making it difficult for phyically impaired and elderly tourists. However, the Papal Blessing tour consisted of a 3 hour walk through Rome and when you arrive at St Peter's square you are dumped and have to make your own arrangements along with 1000's of others.

Debra P., United Kingdom
Excellent guide brought the history of the Vatican and it's works of art to life. Loved it.

Jun X.,
Very helpful and responsive customer service. I was traveling and couldn't print the booking reference, and then they helped me by informing the local agency that I can just show it via my iPhone within 24 hours, small thing but let go a lot of stress. The trip itself was wonderful. Alex was a very friendly and knowledgable guide, after a 3 hours tour we could choose to stay in the Vatican Museum for further discovering.

Richard W., Netherlands
We had Eliza show us around the Vatican: Excellent!

Paulo A., Portugal
Vatican Museum is big and wonderful, but visit it with a guide is the best option! Our guide was very nice.

Deborah G., USA
Our guide, who was an art student, gave us information we never would have gotten on our own. She told us interesting stories about the artists which led to better understanding of the art works. She was careful to make sure everyone was engaged-especially the children in the group. This was time and money well spent.

LEONARDO M., Brazil
The guide Adonai was kind and answered all of questions we have done. It is one of the most important excursions for people which are interested in art and history. I loved it.

Eric N., USA
Wonderful guide who was extremely knowledgable and fun! Vatican City is Awesome!!

percto. maría nos fue contando durante 3 horas desde lo imprescindible hasta los minimos detalles

Luciano D., Brazil
Wonderful and enchanting. Our guide Francesca was great and gave us a precious lecture of the whole history and the significance of the rooms, statues, paintings, etc.. It was a great tour through the Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel and Raphael's Rooms; we were delighted and would like to thank all the staff of CityDiscovery and again a special thanks to our guide Francesca! Le service était excellent. La personne que nous avons eu pour le tour était intéressante, avec un bon sens de l'humour et un français impécable. Bravo et merci.

There is so much to see that you must have a guide to highlight the most salient points or you would wander forever and see little.

Pompei e il Vesuvio, intera giornata

Deana M., USA
Great Day! The hike is easy and it was so worth it to see Pompeii. Loved our guides.

Given Christine .,
Sara is a wonderful guide, she is passionate, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgable. Sara's commentary is not only very informative it is also amusing and entertaining. Sara has a depth of knowledge about Rome, Monte Cassino, Naples, Pompeii and Italy in general that is incredibly expansive. Sara has a bubbly personality and keeps her audience engaged at all times. Thanks to Sara I had a wonderful day and would recommend this tour to any one visiting Rome. Sara is such an asset to Dark Rome, she is a true Gem.

Kimberlee VanHorn .,
just wanted to write in and thank you for such a wonderful tour experience. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. We had two wonderful women tour guides who were so much fun, they seemed to be genuinely having a wonderful time themselves, which in return made our experience all the better. Our bus driver was experienced and made for a pleasant drive, even up the steep, narrow roads of Mt. Vesuvius. I felt safe and comfortable for the duration of the day. My husband and I took a lot of tours on this trip to Europe.... a few tours in the Netherlands and a number throughout Italy. And I would say that none of those tours even came close to the experience I had with Dark Rome. Top Notch! Something else I have noticed, was that a lot of tours in their write-ups say one thing and then deliver another. Not Dark Rome. Your description matched perfectly with the itinerary given, which is thoroughly appreciated! The place we stopped for lunch was nice too, better than expected and our tour guides didn't make us feel like we had to rush though eating to go, go, go to the next location. All in all it was a wonderful day, for probably a once in a lifetime experience, it couldn't have been with a better group of people. As previously mentioned, our tour was for Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. But, if you would like to give Kudos to the wonderful people on our tour... our tour was on April 30th and I believe the women's names were Anna (she was from the US) and the other woman's name started with a V I believe. It was something like Veronica, but I don't think that was it. Thank you again for a wonderful experience,

Lynn James .,
My wife and I took the Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius tour on May 13, 2013. It was exactly as described with a 3 hour drive from Rome to Pompeii starting at 7:30am – a short bathroom break was provided in the middle of the drive – than a two hour small group guided tour of the Pompeii site with a local tour guide – a short ride to lunch where we were served pizza and a drink of our choice – lunch was not rushed. Lunch was followed by a 40 minute drive to the Mt Vesuvius parking lot where we had about 90 minutes to walk up to the crater or to sightsee along the steep path, finally the drive home arriving back in Rome about 8pm. We had two tour guides that stayed with us for the entire journey – while they did split us into groups; I think to make it easier to keep track of us – they operated as a team. Our tour guides Massimo and Mara keep the energy up and the information flowing – it is a long day and it was great to have both of them – during the tour I saw Massimo extend a caring hand and truly help a passenger that was having a difficult time walking – you are on your feet for extended periods and the roads are not smooth – and the climb to the crater is steep but I never felt the pressure to make it to the top. It was clear that the tour guides cared about our experience. As we neared Rome the guides answered questions about other tours, places to see, as well as where a great spot for dinner could be found. We loved the tour – it was exactly what we hope to do, the guides were caring and knowledgeable, the bus and equipment was new and comfortable, our driver (Antonio) was safe and careful during the entire trip. We would highly recommend this tour and our tour guides - it was a once in a lifetime day.

Violette has a very happy disposition, bubbly outgoing personality. You can tell that she loves life and she loves her job. Her smile, laugh, sense of humor, and happiness is infectious.

Denison Elizabeth .,
How many superlatives may I use? Robert was fantastic, the tour itinary was excellent, Massimo was outstanding and the bus driver was a real professional! Well done all of you!

Denison Elizabeth .,
Super! That man knows his Pompeii and he presents and offers his knowledge to his tours with skill and enthusiasm. Excellent guide, excellent tour!!

Fitzgerald Craig .,
Thankyou for the excellent tour, Robert was very informative and forthing coming with information, it was a long day approx 14 hours, which is a little too long. But this did not detract from the overall enjoyment. When we return to Rome we will certainly use Dark Rome again. I have already recommended Dark Rome to some friends who are travelling to Rome in June this year.

Kaczorowski Ms. Christiane .,
He is really nice. I'm from Germany and often he ask me whether I understand everything and repeat it for me, if I dont't understand. I feel very safe an be good keeping. He is very good informed and tells us a lot of information abaout wine and history of Rome

Tamman Kelly .,
Massimo was a fantastic guide. It was obvious that he loves history and was very passionate about telling us the history of Pompeii, Mt Vesuvius and Rome itself. Although it was 3 hours to get to and from the site, the fact that the guides were giving us the background and history made the long journey feel easy.

Gary S., USA
Our tour guide, Sergio, was absolutely wonderful. He was so enthusiastic and involved with all the history of both the Colleseum and the Vatican. His talks were so interesting and so dynamic. You could really see history come alive. His was the best tour we had all week!

Jessica H., Australia
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and would not have been privy to all the information provided by our tour guide Luca had we not done the tour. He was brilliant, well informed and involved the participants on the tour to make it as though we were part of the Roman times. A great way to get the best out of these two fantastic world renowed monuments. Thanks

Micky C., USA
Our two tour guides Francesca and Lucca were amazing. They were both knowledgable and entertaining. I would highly recomend this tour to anyone considering it.

Malcolm G., Canada
Francesca and Luca were absolutely great guides - knowledgeable and engaging. If you do the combo AM/PM tours, be prepared for very little opportunity to sit and rest, even lunch was only 45-minutes.

Teresa Z., Canada
Amazing! Both guides were outstanding. So glad we did the tour. Even our 8 & 10 yr old were engaged the whole time. Tell Luca that Dino enjoyed his humor. Thank-you

Robban S., USA
Francesca, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable as well as entertaining! We enjoyed the entire day and learned so much! It is a strenuous day but well worth the effort!

Jacqui G., Australia
Francesca was our guide and we were very fortunate to have her. Francesca was extremely knowledgable, witty and interesting. It turns out she studied anthropology! And just loves it! Our full day tour took in Ancient Rome in the morning filled by Vatican City etc in the afternoon. A very full day made interesting and easy by Francesca! Grazie

Ana S., Brazil
We liked and recommend it, but it was quite expensive for what was offered (Although the guides were great and the tour was fine.) I mean, you could pay much less for a tour like that. They dont pick us up at the hotel and not even drive us to vatican from coliseum... You need to take your own cab to coliseum, and from there you need to get another cab to vatican city, and have luck enough to find the guide in front of the vatican totaly crowded.

Charles B., USA
our guide Franchesca was a wonderful guide!! She was well versed in her history, made it exciting and when questioned about any mundane subject, she had an answer! Being a student of archaeology, she showed us and told us much more than we could have expected of a guide. I reccomend her highly--she was our guide for both the Vatican and ancient Rome.

Sonia P., USA
The guide we had for the Ancient Rome portion in the AM was fantastic! (Don't remember her name but she has received rave reviews previously, and well deserves them!). The Coliseum and Forum were both great and the guide really brought them into perspective. Dino our guide in the PM for the Vatican was good too. The sights and information from both parts was really worth it.

Visita di Napoli e di Capri

MUSTAFA A., Pakistan
Restaurant at Capri did not disclose details of food to be served, did not provide drinking water, then gave us lime drink and ice cream which were both charged for.Tour guide should clearly disclose to all about food and preferably all this should be in a written handout. This complaint was noted by several members.Tour guide was hesitant to agree at first but then realised that complaint was genuine and several people said so.

Christiane G., Canada
This is a must see!! i've never seen anything so beautiful...the water was the perfect shade of blue and the Grotto Azzuro is unique!

raul C., USA
To many tourist in very small island , the waiting is to long to go to AnaCapri and back to the port.

Lei W., USA
Capri is surely so beautiful! The 3 tour guides were very nice and helpful. I had absolutely a great time. Even though things appeared to be a bit chaos in Italy as usual, somehow they organized all of the boat and mini bus transfers in a quite efficient way. Due to the rough wave, we went on a boat cruise around the island rather than the blue grotto. Also it was worthwhile to take the cable to go to the top of the mountain (cost Euro 8 extra). It was amazing! The only thing was a bit annoying was the very long wait at the tour office. We arrived around 6:45 am but only started to depart almost 8 am. So probably better off to go to the tour agent office directly and save some hotel pick up time.

Kathryn T., USA
The reason we took this tour was to go to the blue grotto and lucky for us, we were able to get in. Once we were on Capri we had a male guide and I do not know his name. He tried to tell me we could not go to the blue grotto because we did not buy our tickets in advance. I informed him we were told the blue grotto tickets there and that was correct and that is what we did. He still tried to talk us out of going to the blue grotto. I glad we didn't listen to him, it was great. Also, in Rome the bus picked us up late and consequently our entire group had to run a long distance to catch the ferry from Naples to Capri because the guides were so late. I felt we were fortunate to see the Isle of Capri and the blue gotto.

Brian W., Australia
We had a very informative guide, Luca, who was passionate about the tour. being in a small group was great as the tour felt very personal.

katja K., Finland
The guide was interested in the participants. He asked where evreybody was from. He introduced himself in the beginning. His English was good. He seemed to like his job which made the tour pleasant.

Mark W., USA
This tour met all our expectations. Seeing the art and historical sights we have only read about was like a dream. It was truly beautiful. Our tour guide Francesca was extremely knowledgeable and had a deep love love for her art. We gained so much from taking the tour and would recommend this tour anyone. Mark and Debbie from CA

Twyla B., Canada
Certainly were happy we had booked this because of the large crowds on May 2, 2012. We had no idea that it would be so crowded so early in May.

David M., USA
The group was too large, the headsets were unreliable, the guide did not seem to know much much detail about the sites (ex. she did not mention the vomitorium design feature of the Colosseum), and seemed to just want to be done with the tour. She was not very enthusiastic about the sites or being a guide. The large group size and her scripted recitation did not lend to getting any individual questions answered.

nasreen K., USA
This was the BEST tour ever. We felt we had earned a PhD in Vatican history after we were done. Our tour guide, Francesca, was AWESOME!! Her knowledge and presentation was wonderful. Very organized tour...highly recommended

BETINA G., Brazil
The tour was great, but most important was the knowledge, friendliness, attention and carism of our guide. He was just fantastic! I recommend this tour to everyone who wants to learn about history and arts.

Helen M., New Zealand
Our tour guide Francesca was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and passionate about Vatican history. We rated the tour very highly but thought the price was a bit steep.

Kate I., Australia
Loved it. There were only 7 of us in the group and our guide Lucas was great. My reason for doing the tour was not religious, it was out of a life-long love of Michelangelo and the desire to see his works. I was worried the tour guide would concentrate on the religious significance of everything but he didn't. He had the knowledge and a sense of humour. Don't try to wander around sites like this without an organised tour, you don't gain anywhere near as much from it. You don't know what you're looking at. And don't book a big cheaper tour. We saw groups of up to 30 trying to stay together and hear what their guide was saying. We didn't have that problem being in a small group we could stay together easily, hear everything, move quickly, but also linger at places that particularly interested any of us. Avoid the big tours. This tour was perfect. But don't take small children,it is too hot, too long and the children become bored. I definitely recomend this tour and hopefully you'll get Lucas as your guide. I booked all my tours through City Discovery and wasn't disappointed by any of them. You get what you pay for.

Gregory S., USA
This tour was excellent. The Vatican Museum is expansive and without a knowledgeable, competent guide you will wlk around in wonder and miss the small treasures. I definitely recommend this tour

Lo Splendore del Sud 2 giorni (Roma-Napoli-Pompei-Sorrento-Capri-Anacapri-Roma)

Dianna Lynne B., Philippines
Great tour! Italy countryside is really beautiful. We loved all towns! 2 out of the 3 tour guides were great; we loved Marco, he provided us important informations and he was sincerely looking out for our welfare, Teresa was very informative as well, Cludio, on the other hand, was very rude. He even embarrassed my nephew inside the bus because he thought he was noisy. He's a kid for gosh sake. The hotel was nice as well, quite far from the city center but there was a free shuttle to and fro (€1) for beyond 9pm. Food was abundant! Lunch, dinner and breakfast. We couldn't eat anymore. The drive to and from Rome is quite long so just entertain yourself by sightseeing or play with your iPad.

Lauretta H., USA
The sites we visited were very interesting and Capri was beautiful. The food was very commercial and not very tasty. The hotel that we stayed at over night in Sorrento was very dated and not the hotel that was advertised in the tour information. Communication is lacking when you are transferred from one place or one guide to another. Having an itinerary telling us where and what time things would be happening would have been very helpful. There are several different tour guides during the tour. Most of the guides were knowledgeable and answered questions when possible. The biggest downside of this tour is that there are two commercials that you are expected to sit through. We were able to escape the cameo tour, but not the wood crafting tour in Sorrento. The best reason to take this tour is because these two destinations would be very difficult to do on your own, especially in only two days.

Lauren O., New Zealand
This tour visits a lot of key things to see in the south of Italy which is great. There were also a couple of surprises too like a visit to a cameo factory and an inlaid wood factory. The food provided was very good. The hotel we stayed at in Sorrento was sublime - I felt very underdressed walking into the top class restaurant for dinner in my trainers! However, due to the fact that several groups on different tours come and go throughout the two days I STRONGLY suggest that each guide wears a company name tag or shirt and carries a company sign so that you know who you are meant to meet with at each of the changeover points. For example, I was at the hotel in Sorrento in the morning ready to go to Capri but I didn't know I was meant to sign in with someone called Marco. I didn't get a sticker as a result and this meant that he didn't get a ticket for me to go to the Blue Grotto (luckily I got in though!). Also, at the end of the tour we got off the boat in Naples and had no idea who we were meant to meet up with. There was a delay of about 20 mins while some went searching for our guide, not actually knowing who they were looking for.

Alistair B., United Kingdom
Well worth it! A young couple on a long weekend trip we stayed in Rome for the first night but the tour held all our highlights. We felt that we could of spent much longer in Pompeii and were a little disappointed with what Naples had to offer. Sorrento & Capri were beautiful and we were really impressed with the hotel provided in Sorrento. We were lucky with the weather conditions and went on the trip to the Blue Grotto which was simply stunning. Well recommended.

Katherine L., USA
Everything went as scheduled. Guides were excellent and the attractions, Pompei and the Blue Grotto in particular, are not to be missed. The hotel in Sorrento was lovely and the food far exceeded our expectations for a hotel buffet.

Matthew C.,
This is an awesome tour recommend the extra stay in Sorrento though to enjoy the hotel and area.

Suely F., Brazil
The first part of the tour (Naples and Pompeii)was ok, exactly as the program. The second part (Sorrento, Capri and Anacapri), was not good. Due to weather conditions was not possible to go to Capri, the local agency already knew and they did not informed the tourist trying to force us to go to another place, different from the one we choose. I refused and asked them to go back to Rome after the first day of tour and they said was not possible and I had no choise and must go to this other place that I did not want to go or the money paid for this second day would not be refunded. Besides of this information I decided to go back to Rome and contacted City Discovery and they solved the case refunding the second day of tour. I really did not like the way they treated the tourists that had only Capri in their original tour. They had to go to Naples and Pompeii instead of their disagreement.

Adrian R., Canada
This is a well organized tour which ran very smoothly. The Pompeii portion was very interesting and educational, thanks to our guide who, although sometimes hard to hear and understand, made a good effort in four different languages. It would have been better though if she wasted less time complaining. Marco, our guide in Capri, was very knowledgeable about the island. We learned a lot. However, he should hold up a sign so we don't lose him in the Capri crowds, which happened once. The seas were too rough to visit the Blue Grotto, but we were taken instead on an exciting boat tour of another section of the rugged coastline of the island. Our visit to the inlaid wood factory in Sorrento was a lovely added bonus. We stayed in the Grand Vesuvio Hotel, which was excellent, particularly breakfast.

David C., USA
disappointed with the hotel room we would have gladly upgraded if that had been an option we asked the hotel to move our room and they couldn't accommodate us otherwise the tour was wonderful a better hotel would have really made the trip

Rajesh S., Norway
SOrrento was beautiful and we enjoyed all the more since we were at The Grand Vesuvio!!! Could not get any better.... we had a room with breathtaking view of the Mt Vesuvious and to top all of it, we were there on 15 August for the Ferragusto Dinner, which was simply superb, with great italian dinner, live music and some dancing !!!! I am glad we did Sorrento and would like to do be there again for a longer time!!!

Absolutely brilliant. A wonderful way to see Rome. Roberto the guide was really good with a great sense of humour. Goes to places that you wouldn't see otherwise. The day tour was so good I booked the night time tour which was just as good. Expensive but was worth every penny.

Neil R., USA
Our segway tour in Rome was a highlight of our trip. We had a wonderful experience with Roberto who was knowledgeable and extremely friendly.

Mogens B., Denmark
We have a very nice trip and the guide, Amanda was great. We can recomend that to every body, and it is very easy to drive around with the Segway.

Marilyn D., United Kingdom
Excellent tour guide and riding on a Segway is so much fun! Would definitely do it again.

Steven L., Netherlands
Great way to discover the best parts of Rome in a few hours. The segways were super easy to handle and great fun. The audiotour and videos on Ipad were a great addition, as they showed how i.e. the colloseum looked like in original state.

Thomas H., USA
Dear Marco & Claudio, We had a great time on your Segway tour. We were only in Rome for a day after the cruise so had limited time and tour options. This was the best 3 hours and an exciting way to see Rome. Your extra IPod views showing how the sites were originally built and used was an easy way for the kids to really appreciate the history. The constant action keep the young and old kids fully engaged. Thanks, and I will recommend this to all. What a great experience and value. Thanks again for such a rewarding time. Escursione a Tivoli e visita di Villa Adriana

Gabriele H., Switzerland
Unfortunately the tour guide translated the guidance in four languages which made it a bit annoying to have to listen to other languages. Also very time consuming. It wasn't a profound tour but we liked it and I am happy i didn't miss it. Thanks

sharman H., USA
The tour itself was great, Hadrians villa was interesting and guide knowledgeable. Tivoli was beautiful. Getting there a little rocky. We had to call for a pick up...told we weren't prearranged as stated on voucher. We were taken to the tour office and told to wait. Gathered up on another bus after 10 minutes and driven to another tour operator and transfered to another bus....confusing with no explanation. After this everything went without any problems

Jesus K., Brazil
A very nice taste of the Roman Empire and Reinessance greatness. Lots of learning. Very interesting!

Robin H., United Kingdom
On the third day we had a day trip booked to Tivoli and Hadrian's Villa. Two years ago we booked the same tour and it rained from the beginning to the end and so we decided we should try our luck and make a second attempt to see the sights in the sun. We got up early to clear blue skies so as to enjoy our breakfast without rushing things because we were to be picked up by a representative at 7.45 am in the lobby. He were taken to the main tourist office near the Via Nationale where we had wait for almost three quarters of an hour for a coach. We realised that had we walked from the hotel it would have taken us no longer than 10 minutes! About twenty tourists - mainly elderly ones from the United States of America joined us for the four hour's tour. After an hour's drive, we reached Hadrian’s Villa. During the drive, our guide explained that Hadrian's villa had been continually stripped over hundreds of years. It was generally regarded as being abandoned and so a Pandora’s box for all and sundry who planned to build. Many stones were taken to build the Villa d'Este about 1,400 years later! Upon arrival, we were shown the scale model of the villa. We could see that it was the largest and most luxurious residence in the countryside ever made with its fabulous and impressive array of imperial palaces, thermal baths, temples, theatres and pools. Hadrian was the emperor who built the Pantheon. The villa was intended as a retirement home for the emperor but illness drove him to warmer climates. He only enjoyed the villa for a short while between its completion and his death three years later. It is said to be very difficult these days to get an idea of the original grandeur of this villa but Hadrian re-created buildings that had impressed him during his travels like the Stoa Poikile of Athens, and the Canopus, the one in Alexandria in Egypt. We only saw primarily substructures, stripped of marble facing, frescoes, or other decorations. Some of these can be seen today in the museums of Italy and Europe, many were destroyed. The guide took us to the so called Teatro Marittimo, a small colonnaded palace, ringed by Ionic columns, built on a private island in the middle of an artificial lagoon in which we saw several tiny turtles swimming. It was believed to be Hadrian’s private retreat where he could indulge his love of music, poetry and painting. We then visited the Canopus, a pool representing a branch of the Nile. It was used for summer banquets and then the Piazza d'Oro, a peristyle garden which was richly adorned with fountains and statuary. It seems unfortunate that most of the sculpture from baths, theatres, libraries and apartments was removed from the site during renaissance excavations but enough remains for visitors to appreciate what would have been the magnificence of a Roman imperial garden. The next stop was Tivoli, a small picturesque historical town situated in the Monti Tiburtini hills where the climate is fresher and cooler than in Rome For this reason, the area was popular from ancient times onwards with Rome's wealthy classes, who built summer retreats in the area to escape from the stifling summer heat of the city. Across the main town square stands the Villa d'Este, which was built in the 1550's for Cardinal Hippolyte d'Este who had previously unsuccessfully attempted to become Pope. The villa used to be a former Benedictine convent and is known first and foremost for its worldwide famous Renaissance gardens. Italian gardens and fountains have been seducing gardeners since the 17th century, and continue to do so today. We entered the villa via an unassuming entrance at the back of the villa but directly at the far end of small square and it was not long before we descended a flight of stairs and passed through ornately decorated rooms to the front of the building. From here we could see a number of paths and steps leading down to the beautiful and amazing football field sized gardens enriched with hundreds of fountains. We were fascinated by the gardens set on a descending series of terraces, amongst palm trees and cypresses. Franz Liszt lived here briefly while he composed Fountain of Villa d'Este. We were shown the Bicchierone fountain, a later addition by Bernini; the Ovato, an atmospheric fountain backed by a nymphaeum , the Fountain of the Dragons, a many-breasted sculpture of Diana, the long, cooling, delightful path of the Hundred Fountains and the massive cascade below the Water Organ. Unlike two years ago, we were happy to see the 600 fountains and grottos spectacularly spurting out water. Last time the water spurted less spectacularly from the heavens but in similar amounts!. The fountains are fed by gravitational circulation, starting from the top at the villa, to the formal pools below. I learnt later that there are two fountains that suppose to sing, the organ fountain and the owl fountain. I think the owl was silent when we were there though. Every two hours, in the organ fountain, a little door at the front opens up so you can see a small organ playing inside, it is said that the music sounds like mp3 recording. I did not know why the guide did not mention these fountains. Altogether we decided that whilst the weather had left much to be desired last time, the guide had been brilliant and this time it was the other way round, brilliant weather and a guide who left much to be desired. I could not put my camera down for a second. The intricate mansion, immaculate flora, stunning gardens, and hundreds upon hundreds of fountains, geysers and grottos truly blew our breath away. Unfortunately we were not given much time to look around and with the strict orders to gather in the square only half an hour later (not an Italian half an hour!) we had to dash around and could not do justice to the rooms at all.

Janet B., United Kingdom
The gardens at Tivoli were lovely but I would have liked longer to explore Hadrian's villa. Overall it was a very good trip.

Tiffany C., USA
First our guide. She seemed very rushed and overwhelmed at the beginning, leading to her lecture being very rushed and overwhelmed, so it was somewhat hard to understand everything initially. This was also unfortunately a multiple language group (beware of this, it kills the momentum of the tours and really slows things down), so our guide had to repeat everything in both French and Spanish, in addition to English obviously. We were unfortunately disappointed with Hadrian's Villa, mostly because there isn't much left to see. It is here that a guide becomes crucial to really help your imagination, and ours was more concerned with her translations than anything else. However, the second, less publicized part of the excursion was to the Ville d'Este in Tivoli, which was incredible. They let you tour the gardens and house on your own, and this is fantastic. Definitely exceeded our expectations here, but still only giving 3 stars because of our so-so guide and slight disappointment with Hadrian's Villa.

John H., Canada
Acess at Villa Adrian was a bit of a climb, some people dropped out of the tour. The many stairs at Tivoli make it difficult to appreciate the entire site. It would be better to have bus pick-up at the bottom of the stairs to appreciate the gardens in their full.

I recommend this tour, speciallity for a couple. The travel is so romantic and is beatiful this coast. Hotels are 4 stars, with a beatiful sight (specially in Amalfi). Also you can take a local bus or a tour bus (toristik) to go to Positano and Ravello. Really, the price of this tour is worth it.

Julie B., USA
Overall this was a good tour. The best parts were the transportation and the tours of Capri and Pompeii. The worst part was the fact that we NEVER received an itineray that had TIMES for the activities/pick-ups. As a result, we had to rely on the hotels and in Amalfi the time was off by about 90 minutes plus the driver was late. Parts that need improvements include the Naples walking tour (practically non-existent - 20 minutes out, 25 minutes back, see three sites) and the meals. Marco was fabulous in Capri.

Chin Ching T., Malaysia
Hi we are from Malaysia. It was an amazing experience! We were lucky to experience Blue Grotto in Capri and the ski lift was awesome! Sorrento and Amalfi are gorgeous places! The driver made a short stop at Positano, super gorgeous little town. The entire journey to Amalfi, the view is to die for!! You just can't stop snapping pix! All the hotels we stayed were very nice with good meals and fantastic view! Sorrento - Grand Hotel Vesuvio & Amalfi -The Excelsior hotel amalfi. Love the creamy butter from Grand Hotel Vesuvio. Really missing it! Overall, the trip was worth the money we paid for the trip. We were well informed by the guide on timing especially during our trip to Capri, she was very detailed & helpful. She will also tell you to not to shop at places as the price was pricey. You must also go to Ravello during your free time in Amalfi. Beautiful little small town. Naples stop was nothing much. Only one complaint to make, on our day transfer back to Pompeii from Amalfi, the driver was speeding in the winding road! It was pretty scary.

Maretha M., Luxembourg
We would have prefer to stay 3 nights in Sorrento and one night in amalfi because you can do much more in Sorrento and by the time we reach Amalfi we have already done most of the day tours that depart from Amalfi.

GEMMA A., Philippines
The tour in amalfi should include guided tour in positano and ravello than leaving the tourists to see these places on their own. There is too much time given to them to be on their own, thereforeto giving them the worth of what they paid for.

Paul B., Canada
Great hotels, food, private limousine transport from Sorrento to Amalfi and return to Pompeii. Competent and well organized tour guides. Our favourite was Marco who skillfully steered us around Capri. ** The tour buses are too large for the narrow, windy cliffside road to Sorrento. They're a danger to other vehicles and the bus passengers. ** Drop the visit to Sorrento's inlaid furniture makers. Give us more time on Capri.

Angeli e Demoni Tour Ufficiale- Il sentiero dell'illuminazione

M. Zaal .,
The tour was great, yet.. i would like to hear more about the book / movie then of the history of Rome. Although there were some interesting parts to. Louise was very easy to understand.

Kobus Vorster .,
Our guide introduced himself as Mike, as in Michelangelo, and offered to use his (amazingly good) Italian accent - the group preferred his native American accent. Throughout the tour his sense of humour was much appreciated. Mike has an excellent knowledge of the book, the film and the actual history and geography of the sites visited, and provided very interesting comparisons and comments. Transport between the sites was by luxurious bus. An excellent tour, which I can recommend.

Usha .,
I loved the tour in spite of not reading the book. Emmanele was a good at explaining everything and considerate of his group, counting every now and then, to see if we all were there and all. We had been visited a lot of these places before, but with the explanations he gave, it was like seeing it for the first time...a gratifying experience

Bonnie Mosson .,
My husband & I loved this tour! What a clever way to visit & learn about some of Rome's sights. We also enjoyed finding out where the movie & book used a bit of poetic license....pop! We arrived in Italy only to discover our luggage had not, went through several frustrating days to locate it (did not get it back until the night before we left) & this tour (which I had planned on my birthday) was just what I needed to give me a lift! I would recommend this to everyone!!!!!

Diane Zanutto .,
Massimo was very knowledgeable and had many more interesting facts. I really enjoyed his stories and facts.

Tanja Djozo .,
I took this tour my last day in Rome. I already have visited some of the places included in the Tour but it was a totally different experience than before. Our guide (a girl with a ancient Rome and Greek history that I forgot the name) was excellent! I loved her so much I wanted to take the Catacombs Tour that she guides the same day, but it was too much for me, since I had to get back to hotel and prepare for my trip back home. Anyway, our guide also told us some interesting stories that are not connected to the Angels and Demons, and I liked them very much. Explanations of the sights and events from the book (and the movie) was great with exception of one - Castel Sant'Angelo. I wish I heard and saw some more about the Castel Sant'Angelo and its connection to the book. All in all, this is a tour that I would recommend to everyone!

Tim Tomich .,
Very entertaining tour with a mix of an explanation of the movie and actual history. Louise was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour stops were interesting and we got to see some of Rome while we were riding from point to point.

Michaela Bischof .,
Very funny and interesting tour. We liked the way how Emanuele told the stories in a funny way. The English was perfect, we first thought he must come from GB (maybe he still does :) ) Very good point is that he provided also additional Rome information where to eat etc.

Lyndsey Bell and Blair Thomson .,
We had a fabulous time on the Angels and Demons tour. Mike was a fantastic guide and was extremely knowledgeable about the history of all locations on the tour. Particularly enjoyed his sense of humour which might not be to everyone's liking but for us, added to the experience. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Rome!

Steve Baynton .,
My wife & I really enjoyed the tour, it gave a good insight into some of the sites in Rome together with a better understanding into how the book was writern. A great way to send a morning!

Udienza Papale

Derek B., United Kingdom
The guide was excellent, the only downside was that the pick up outside our hotel was over half and hour late. We were asked to be outside the hotel 10minutes before the scheduled pick up time only for the minibus to be thirty five minutes late - had we known this we could have had breskfast.

Michelle R., USA
There wasn't much tour involved, mainly just transportation to the Vatican. We arrived in time for the gates to open and get a good vantage point. I would strongly recommend bringing water and an umbrella or something to provide shade.

Rebecca A., USA
We liked it and recommend it

Patricia S., United Kingdom
We attended the Papal Audience on 2nd September 2009 and it was a memory I will treasure. We weren't sure what to expect but the guide was brilliant, took us through steps to get the best seats, and made the trip into something memorial. If in Rome, it's a privilege to be able to get tickets to this audience and see the Holy Father. Well recommended tour.

Francesca G., United Kingdom
An amazing and wonderful experience. The Pope was at his summer residence, Castel Gandolfo during our trip this August but we were driven there with a mini tour of the city along the way. The audience and blessing itself was in a very small square where everyone had an amazing personal and close view of the Pope whilst he said the prayers and then the blessing of us all.

Grand Tour di Roma per piccoli gruppi

Jesse J., USA
The tour guides were excellent, and very informative! We really enjoyed the wealth of knowledge they both had on the subjects. They were more than helpful ensuring that we had transportation to and from tour spots. Really enjoyed the tour. Felt like it was the best tour out of many that we took during our week in Rome! Thank you for the experience!

GHADA H., USA
the best, tour guide was Luca, we enjoyed this tour and recommend it very very highly

Amanda H., United Kingdom
Tour guide francesca was very passionate and knowledgble!!

Janice M., New Zealand
Unfortunatley as we are not used to using te 24 hour clock, we read the time wrong.. Was disappionted with the response from the tour company.. The guides were excellent..

Caroline YK L., Hong Kong
My teenage daughter and I could only spare one full day to see as much of Rome as was possible. We are so happy to have chosen Avventure Bellissime Rome's Grand Tour of Rome for Small Groups. We loved the fact that we were a small intimate group led by Luca, the tour guide. Luca is professional, full of energy, considerate and attentive to our needs. He is clearly passionate about his work, and we thoroughly enjoyed his guidance and knowledge in the architecture, sculpture and art. It was a full day tour, starting early in the morning in the Colosseum, then the Vatican, St Peter's, Pantheon and the Monumental Tour late afternoon showing a view of Rome from the hills. It was a very long and tiring day for us, but Luca was still as energetic and enthusiastic as ever. Luca exceeded our expectation. When he heard that we wanted to have a good gelato, he asked the driver to take us to the nearest shop, and gave us many restaurant recommendations. He also shared useful good tips using our Nikon digital take clever photos during our trip. We highly recommend Aventure Bellissime Rome. We are certainly using them again.

Nancy Y., USA
It was a great way to see the major sites in a short visit & with just a small group. The quides were incredible, we had Francesca for the morning tour and Luca in the afternoon. These quides know there business, they are friendly, and speak excellent english. Would highly recommend this tour!!1 Was worth every cent. Nancy

.,
We took the Grand Tour of Rome for Small Groups. Francesca was a wonderful guide on our morning tour of the Colosseum and the Roman ruins. She was full of interesting facts and so passionate and enthusiastic about the tour. Same goes for Giovanni on the afternoon tour of the Vatican and our evening Monumental Rome tour. Well worth the money considering the short time we spent in Rome.

.,
Francesca was phenominal!! We are educators and couldn't help but wonder how exciting she would make a history class for any student. Her energy and dynamic descriptions of the historical events of the Coliseum kept us captured by and we almost believed she lived the stories she told. We have suggested to friends to insist they take her tour.

Anna K., USA
They canceled the tour before we could be there and I will need to get my money returned.

Linda R., USA
Luca was absolutely wonderful. He was personable and knowledgeable and patient and funny. He made the trip, which was a long day enjoyable, and he helped to fill our heads with an appreciation of Rome and the history of this great city. It was well worth the time, energy and money to take this trip and I would highly recommend it.

Assisi e Orvieto

Jiri P., Czech Republic
Not enough time in Orvietto

Sonia P., USA
While the cities of Orvieto and Assisi are both interesting; our primary guide was not of any benefit and bearly was able to keep the group moving; let alone read pre-scripted text in 3 languages. Orvieto did have a gorgeous Duomo/Catheral that we were able to see, but with only 45 minutes (no guided tour), we were lucky to see what we did. Next was a stop at a Ceramics factory (which was totally unnecessary and entirely capitalistic, having nothing to do otherwise with the tour). Assisi was a beautiful tour with two nice churches. The lunch was quite forgetful! The guide for Assisi was much more informative and did a better job with the group. Unfortunately, our guide decided to stop for coffee on the trip back to Rome, and I thought the tour would never end! Our 10 hour tour actually ended up taking 14 hours (with only minor impact from the Metro strike occurring that day). All in all and interesting tour if you are interested in the towns & cathetrals involved, but be prepared for a very long day, and hopefully that can get better guides.

Very nice ,

raul C., USA
Fantastic this is the best way to see Rome

Della F., USA
No time in Assisi when the trip was booked as such...Spent too much time as a winery.

Della F., USA
With only 1 1/2 hours at Assisi out of 11 hours, we were disappointed.Spending 2 hours a a winery is a little silly .

Jean M., USA
Tour to Assisi was wonderful, but we were not happy about being detoured to a ceramic factory which was not stated in the itinerary. Because of this waste of time we had very little opportunity to see Perugia and we were very disappointed. Unfortunately the included lunch was awful and the serving was very skimpy.

Theresa J., Norway
I must say that this trip was the best of my whole stay in Rome. Your guide and driver were so lovable and that adds a lot to the trip. Your guide, antonella I think was very helpful and cheerful. The lunch at Assisi were delicious and the guide from Assisi was also lovable. He gives a lot of information about the place that makes it a memorable one. Your tour is absolutely the best and I recommend to all tourist. It is not only historical or religious but enjoyable with those present in the tour. Keep it up. Theresa Jee Norway

Mary Teresa M., USA
The trip was nice but the driver played mexican salsa music all the way to Assisi and back. Not exactly conducive to a pilgrimage!

Andrea C., USA
wished we had more time in Assissi. Orvieto is beautiful but it was not a highlight due to the very limited time.

Lo splendore del Sud - 3 Giorni a Sorrento

Angelo M., Canada
We had a wonderful time on this tour, mostly because it was late in the season (end of October), so there were very little crowds and beautiful sunny weather in the 70's). We absolutely loved the hotel Mount Vesuvio and balcony view of the Bay of Sorrento. The breakfeast and dinners that were included were very good. What was great about this tour was that the free day was on the 2nd day which allowed us to book an optional all-day tour of the Amalfi coast. The tour of Capri and return to Rome was on the 3rd day. Other tours had the free day on the 3rd day, which made an all day tour of the Amalfi coast impossible as we had to return to Rome in the afternoon. The tour guide for Capri, Marco, was very entertaining and you can tell he really enjoyed his work. We had no problems being picked up and returned to our hotel in Rome. I truly recommend this tour.

patty C., USA
We love the trip. It is a nice hotel.Pompeii is worth to go. We went to Blue Grotto as well. It is a wonderful place. I like the tour, the tour was very organized. Amazing tour.

Mery M., Mexico
The tour provider was punctual, well organized and efficient. The local guides were excellent. Sorrento hotel with wonderfull view and nice installations. The food was fine. It was a very enjoyable experience.

DANIELA REGINA C., Brazil
The view of the hotel (Grand Hotel Vesuvio) was amazing, but its wi fi could be for free and its breakfast could be better. The stop in Naples was unnecessary. We had a day free in Sorrento and we had to ask for a tour (nothing was offered for us). Time to stay in Capri (beautiful) was very short.

Leanne W., Australia
The tour at times appeared like organise chaos, but this was part of the appeal for me, and everyone was lovely. I would really recommend doing the extra day and getting a private tour with others to Amalfi, it was definitely one of the highlights. I was sad that the Blue Grotto was closed, but this could not be helped (due to weather) and I would have liked to spend more time in Naples (even if just an hour) to explore a bit by ourselves. The accommodation was great, and having meals provided was wonderful.

Katherine S., Singapore
Overall, the tour is ok. sorrento as good.Only for the last day to Capri, it was not very organised. We took a ferry and has to wait at least half an hour to take a mini bus up to anacapri. the tour guide say the blue grotto not ready so go to anacapri first. We had lunch when we reach the anacapri and only half an hour to walk in the small town then we have to rush down to take another bus to the blue grotto. We do not have time to stroll or walk around the Capri. After we finish at the blue grotto, we have to take the ferry back to Naples to go back to Rome.

Gerda C., South Africa
The tour was wonderfull. Napels was a big dissappountment and we had a terrible tourguide there and in Pompeii. Sorrento and the exstra Amalfi excursion was great. Will do it again, but will sit out on the Pompeii and Napels leg!! Capri beautifull!! M&G

MALKA Y., Israel
hello again!! I want to thank you very much for a wonderful time we had on our tour to Sorrento !! every thing was managed and taking care off, we enjoyed very much the hotel , and the guiding . we will book your tours again for sure!!! yanai family Israel

Barbara F., USA
Everything went like clockwork. The tour provider employees were always where they said they would be, when they said they would be there. The hotel was a little out of town, but it was beautiful, very luxurious and the shuttle took us to town and picked us up as requested. A wonderful experience.

Jacob Y., USA
Good trip to Pompei, excellent hotel in Sorrento, trip to Capri was organized very poorly, we came there after 11 AM, the restaurant was awful, a trip to Blue grotto was a huge waste of time.
